With a growing family of three children and the desire to plant a new
fellowship in Kansas City, it made sense for Paul to abandon the
L.A. scene. Longtime friend, and music partner, Phil Keaggy, and
his wife, Bernadette, moved into his house for a season while
they searched for a home and answers to her tragic pregnancy
issues. Curt Bartlett recruited Jim DeLong and Lee Jones from
Seattle, who, along with local woodwindist/keyboardist Dan
Murdock, formed the band, “Crossection.”.
Lacking the depth of
the previous Hollywood recording sessions, but basking in the
warmth of local fellowship sunshine, Phil Keaggy added tasty
guitar licks to the developing sounds of Crossection.
Produced by Paul, and
engineered by Bobby Cotton at Sound Recorders in KC, but knowing
that the recording would be mastered by A&M Records mastering
guru, Bernie Grundman, the background vocals were crooned at
Paramount Studios in L.A. by Kelly Willard, Michelle Pillar,
Bruce Hibbard, Shauna Rogers, Howard and Charity McCrary. Once
again, Paul penned another covenant wedding classic. The duet
with Kelly Willard on “Here To Stay,” added another composition
to his covenant song repertoire.
